Overview

At the end of a dead-end gravel road outside Chapel Hill, North Carolina, dogs wander between yards and old trucks sit beneath the trees. A loose community of men works, drinks, jokes, argues, and tells stories. Their ordinary banter gradually opens into memories of family, war, grief, regret, and survival, while the animals, woods, abandoned machinery, and improvised objects around them offer an often absurd counterpoint. Funny, unsettling, and deeply human, Dixie Garden Drive is a portrait of a place and the people who pass through it, where ordinary conversation carries the weight of entire lives.
