Overview

The story of the creation of the film “Shchors“ began in March 1935 during a meeting between the state leadership and film artists. During this meeting, Stalin presented Dovzhenko with the Order of Lenin. From the very first days of work on the film, the secret form that was kept on Dovzhenko was supplemented almost daily with reports, certificates, and denunciations. In Oleksandr Dovzhenko's feature film “Shchors“, the circumstances of the brigadier's death remain off-screen. In the documentary by Ihor Kobryn, The Bloody Trail Leaves a Trail... - the reasons for the death of the "Ukrainian Chapaev" become obvious. This documentary investigation is another myth created by Soviet propaganda.
