Overview
Aiyefele is plagued with a curse for which no one knows the source or cure. To appease the gods, any (Abami) child (anyone born with a birthmark) is condemned to be killed by the palace guards and thrown into the deep forest to die and be drifted away by the river. The king has many wives, but only one son who suffers intermittent seizures. The three witches place various levies on the king so that the prince can live.
