"Anti-Apartheid Documentary"
Documentary directed by Gordon Main (2024) based on Ken Keable’s 2012 book 'London Recruits: The Secret War against Apartheid'. In 1962 Oliver Tambo, Deputy President of the ANC then living in exile in London was tasked with building support for opposition to apartheid. White activists were secretly recruited and undertook several successful, non-violent and dangerous actions inside South Africa. The film blends archive footage and reconstruction, with actors playing real life activists. Several give contemporary testimony looking back to when they undertook their missions, particularly Ronnie Kasrils who was instrumental in recruiting young activists. The film has won 7 awards up to the present time.
