Overview
On the open sea off the coast of Ecuador, a group of artisanal fishermen and scientists embark on an urgent mission: to remove ghost nets that lie trapped in ancient coral ecosystems, now degraded. These abandoned nets continue to trap fish and turtles and become lethal traps for humpback whales during their annual migration. In this first episode of "Yubarta: Ghost War," we accompany this unique alliance as they travel to traditional fishing spots, confronting the invisible waste that threatens not only marine biodiversity but also the ecological memory of the place.
