On July 29, 2001, the "Beatriz de la Fuente Museum of Teotihuacan Mural Painting" was inaugurated, which in 2006 changed its name to "Museum of Teotihuacan Murals: Beatriz de la Fuente." This was an old and long-awaited project to bring together and house in one place the artifacts recovered many years ago in archaeological excavations by great researchers, whose work then crystallized in this museum, thanks to the insistence and leadership of art historian Dr. Ma. Elena Ruiz Gallut, who, as director of the Center for Teotihuacan Studies at the time, led an interdisciplinary team of scholars of this culture in their quest to create a dignified space dedicated to displaying these murals to the general public.
