Set during the historic Battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954, the film follows Bao, a Viet Minh soldier tasked with escorting Bernard, a young French prisoner, away from the battlefield. Accompanying them is May, a Vietnamese field nurse who tends to Bernard's wounds.
