Overview
"""Late Bloomers"" is a film I have been working on throughout 2023-24. It depicts a world where queerness has thrived and nature has stopped existing. With only plastic remaining in this realm, they dream of seeing the sun shine again and celebrate the wilderness they have never encountered. Together, through mimicking a nature they have never known, they create a queer reality. Originally created as an immersive installation, the film itself (entirely shot in my living room) is a window into this world picturing my queer community in Glasgow. In this realm, the participants recover wearable queer artifacts and access a higher space through a mutation process. Late Bloomers is a celebration of the community I am part of in Scotland. While taking an interrest in ecology, I challenge the hierarchy of material/people, question beauty and the value of our surrounding. In the same way I invite viewers to witness this fictive world, I welcome them into ours."
