The documentary "The Butterflies of Giudecca" is a journey through the faces, words, and feelings of women incarcerated on the Giudecca island; capable of surprising everyone, including themselves, by becoming guides at the Biennale. Artists, cosmeticians, seamstresses, cooks, construction workers, actresses, and gardeners, in a transformation from inmates to fully paid workers in a factory that all of Venice cheers for. It's an experiment, a dream, an emotion, a test of courage, and of feminine pride. The Pope supported it in 2024, visiting the inmates on the opening day of the Holy See Pavilion in the prison. The screening is a national premiere, and directors Rosa Lina Galantino and Luigi Giuliano Ceccarelli will be present.
