Overview
Countless mysteries enshroud the ancient culture of Teotihuacán, a pre-Spanish civilization in the Mexican highlands that began to develop around 200 B.C. Village communities soon melded into an enormous urban sprawl, spanning 20 km2 and hallmarked by monolithic, precisely-constructed pyramids. By the mid-700s, however, the city experienced a catastrophic collapse - leaving scant clues about the people, language and written communication of this mysterious community.
