Overview
1844: When Anna Lischer's abusive brother William dies, she is determined to win back the family fortune she lost when, aged only 19, she fled his violence. As she recounts the disturbing events of her youth to Milton Price, her solicitor, she remembers back to the day, decades before, when she escaped William and sought refuge in a Moravian Settlement, the home of her secret love, Erich. But unbeknown to Anna, Erich's pious brother Gottlieb has arranged for Erich to marry a wife chosen for him from within their community. Meanwhile, William hunts for his sister.
