"“The beauty of what art can do [is that] it offers an opportunity for people to engage in difficult large issues”"
Tonika Lewis Johnson's Folded Map™ Project visually examines the present day impact of Chicago's historic segregation while bringing residents who live at corresponding addresses on the North and South Sides of Chicago, together to have a conversation. What started as a photographic study quickly evolved into a multimedia exploration with video interviews. Now Tonika has expanded Folded Map into a 30min, animated film about the origin and details of her project.
