Overview
The shocking suicides of the Hwang twins in New York Chinatown in 1978 became the basis for Thomas Tam’s microbudget film Sunrise On Mulberry Street. The Szeto family is struggling to get by in New York Chinatown. The Szeto patriarch pressures his son to be successful and his daughters to adhere to his strict rules. Both the Szeto children and parents confront generational and structural forces, which eventually lead to a tragic end.
