Overview

In April 1945, the occupying forces forced 116 women to leave Camp Westerbork in the middle of the night. Just before the approaching front line, these women, active in the Dutch resistance, set off on a three-night deportation march. No one knows why or where they are going. Thanks to A.I., a long-lost interview from 1985 with survivor Riek Sennema—the only living proof of this march—could be restored and brought back to life. In *De Vrouwenmars* (The Women's March), her voice forms the basis for the reconstruction of this virtually forgotten history. Eighty years later, the film also follows the commemorative march along the same route. Together with the women's children and grandchildren, the film explores how this event continues to resonate generations later.
