Overview
Demetrius DuBose, All American is a portrait of Demetrius DuBose: Notre Dame captain, All American athlete, NFL Player, and most importantly, a man with a complex and vibrant life. In July of 1999, he was murdered by the San Diego Police. The film serves to shed light on an event which was quickly and strategically wiped from the public consciousness, as well as to paint a portrait of Demetrius which most have not seen. It follows the course of his life nonlinearly, beginning with his death, and then moving into his mother's involvement with the civil rights movement, Demo's birth, childhood, his football career (high school, college, and professional), and finally, his transition to his post-NFL life. The film ends where it began: the untimely and unnecessary end of his life.
