"Wool, hands, and a politics of care."

Overview

In central France, between Felletin and Aubusson, we meet Céline, Clara, Éliane and the others. They are weavers, artists, dyers, sheep breeders, knitters, and even spinning workers. They know each other, they sometimes work together, and they form an artisan community around wool. Their know-how and their sensitivities demonstrate a unique relationship with the world, going against the contemporary context, in which collaboration with a material from the living becomes the ground for ecological and political reflection. The film, shot with a Bolex, adopts an artisanal approach in its production, by using eco hand-processed 16 mm film, and animated sequences which enhance the gestures of textile work. The film, at the crossroads of textile and cinematographic practices, offers a critique of industrial production methods and a quest for meaning in the face of environmental and societal crises.
