Heavily indebted to Jean Rouch’s work (mainly 1961’s Chronique d’un été), Mirror Mirror was created as a joint project with the thesis Queer Giving by Zemirah Moffat. In the abstract of the latter, the researcher and director explains that the film “is the material realisation of a practice-led research project into contemporary radical queer ways of being”. As Moffat explains, Club Wotever was a London venue founded in 2003 “for drag kings, butches, trannifags, FTM’s [female to male transsexuals], femme fatales, transgendered grrlz, queer bois and … With happenings, performances, music and a chilled atmosphere, where friends, lovers and flirt objects can meet”
