Overview

In August of 2014, the world watched on as ISIS attacked the Sinjar region of Iraq, waging a brutal genocide of the Yazidi people. Those who were not killed were taken hostage as sex slaves for ISIS. 10 Years On tells the story of two of the women who survived this atrocity and managed to escape, and their continuing resilience over the years. 10 Years On is a testament to the spirit of those who survive. Walking a line between the informative and the personal, this is a film that is interested in educating the audience on the events that occurred 12 years ago (and continue to occur even now, as many Yazidi women remain in captivity). It’s also a film that is interested in putting faces to the tragedy. At its core, this is a film about two people and the strength of spirit that lead them to survival, as well as their continuing fight for freedom.
