Yoshihito, Emperor of Japan, who is better known as the posthumous name of Taishō Tenno, died on December 25, 1926. Roger Dumas, sent on a mission to Japan, was one of the few, if not the only, operators to have permission to film the preparations as well as the funeral ceremony that took place on the night of February 7-8, 1927. It should be noted that an identification error appears at the end of the assembly. The operator allegedly mixed the elements concerning the garden of Chinjikoen, where the funeral chariot had been placed temporarily, with those showing the mausoleum of Tama, built to receive definitively the body of the deceased emperor.
