After the great irritation caused by PISA, many German educators and politicians traveled to Scandinavia, Canada, and other countries that performed well in PISA. They were amazed at how much learning benefits when schools are places of life. Journalist and filmmaker Reinhard Kahl's documentaries on education in Finland, Sweden, and Canada helped to broaden the international perspective on successful schools. Now, after a year of research, filming, and editing, he presents the results of a journey into his own country. He shows German schools where enthusiasm and performance do not conflict, but rather enhance each other.
