Overview
A championship more dramatic than a Hollywood script, with a season finale that was downright unbelievable, the 2001 BTCC series sparkled with fierce rivalry, intense racing, bumper-to-bumper battles and more than a few off-track controversies! It was a year in which arch-rivals and Vauxhall team-mates Jason Plato and Yvan Muller headed into the final race of the year, each with a chance of snatching the title from the other! After a thrilling and dramatic showdown at a rain-soaked Brands Hatch, it was Plato who emerged victorious and became the first British driver to capture the BTCC crown since John Cleland in 1995.
