Overview
ARTIST, RESIST: Rage, Thunder, and Mirages follows Blanca Haddad, an artist and poet whose work bears witness to a fiercely libertarian life, over three years in Barcelona. Through her paintings, exhibitions, poetry readings, and performances, Blanca expresses her inner struggle and her consciousness as a woman, an artist, and an immigrant. With a background as punk as it is academic, she fights to sustain a creative passion that rejects labels and conventional narratives. We witness an imminent breakthrough just as she decides to return to her native Caracas, a place she left more than two decades ago. “I think I’ve always been running away from situations—I don’t know which one I’m running from this time,” Blanca Haddad Dix. The documentary portrays her intense and contradictory life, her fear of silence and loneliness, but also the pain that freedom can bring.
